Half Day Ride – Sunday 19th October 2025

This Sunday’s half day ride will be led by Kevin Moorey. A volunteer to be Tail End Charlie would be appreciated.

This ride is on Mid Devon’s quiet and seemingly forgotten 60mph twisty A and B roads, with beautiful Devon scenery to enjoy. Goat tracks are avoided, but lots of fast open roads with lots of bends are promised!

Please meet at Ashburton Motorworks car park, which is directly behind The Shell garage at Peartree Cross, Ashburton, Newton Abbot, TQ13 7RB, (///terminal.bronzes.handover) from 9.00am with a full tank of fuel and ready for a briefing at 9.20am ready for a prompt 9.30am departure. The garage has fuel, toilet and take away drinks available.

The outward route is 49 miles, about 1hr 30m, and has been planned by the traditional method with a map and pencil, then riding the route in advance. It will use the PAM marker system to ensure everyone knows where to go.

The routes can be downloaded from the PAM MyRoute-App group:

It will take us on hugely enjoyable roads via Haytor and Bovey Tracey, joining the A382 twisting along and up onto Dartmoor through Moretonhampstead then continuing on the A382 towards Whiddon down. From there, we continue onwards enjoying Mid Devon’s quiet and seemingly forgotten but glorious A roads, including the A3124, A377 and the very twisty A3072 for coffee and refreshments at Bickleigh Mill, Bickleigh, Tiverton, EX16 8RG, (///myself.survey.mixes).

After coffee, the return journey is 49 miles, about 1hr 30m, in which we will head through Crediton, Copplestone, Bow, and Jacobstowe, joining the A386 south through Sourton Down, then via Harford Bridge and Horrabridge to finish, where we can say our goodbyes, in the Car park at Yelverton, PL20 6AE (///nutrients.selects.onlookers), around 1.15pm.

The ride will be conducted in accordance with the IAM’s Group Organised Rides manual. The ride is open to all members. Associates are particularly encouraged to attend as these rides provide a great opportunity to meet fellow members and practice your skills amongst like-minded individuals. This is a social event and not an observed ride.

You are reminded that the ride leader is responsible for navigation and route guidance only. It remains your personal responsibility to exercise your own judgement about every course of action that you take, and every rider is responsible for their own actions and the consequences that those actions may have.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

The PAM Team.
