Rob Batten

Dear Member,

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Rob Batten, a friend and long-standing member of our club, has passed away following a courageous battle with cancer.

Rob joined Plymouth Advanced Motorcyclists (PAM) on 22nd February 2011, passed his advanced test, and went on to become one of the original members of Cornwall Blood Bikes.

Rob later became an observer with PAM and supported many of the club’s social events. Together with his wife, Sue, they organised our annual Christmas quiz for a number of years, until Rob was unable to continue due to ill health. In recognition of this commitment, Rob and Sue were awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the club.

Rob’s funeral will be held at Glyn Valley Crematorium at 12:30pm on Thursday 16th April. Dress is casual. Family flowers only, with any donations going to Cornwall Blood Bikes.

Rob and his family have requested a bike escort from his home to his final resting place. If you would like to take part, please let me know.

The family would also appreciate an indication of numbers attending for catering purposes, so if you plan to attend, please let me know as soon as possible.

Times like this remind us that, while our core role is delivering the advanced rider course, we are just as importantly a local bike group with strong camaraderie between members. This is a testament to you all, and long may it continue.
