Happy New Year!
To kick off the New Year, and blow the cobwebs off, this Sunday’s All-Day Ride will be led by Jonty Johnson. A volunteer to be tail end Charlie would be appreciated. Please read the ‘Winter rides cancellation policy’ at the end of this message.
Please meet at Costa Coffee, Marsh Mills, Plymouth, PL6 8LX, (///candy.hero.grades) from 9.00am ready for a briefing at 9.20am and a prompt 9.30am departure.
The route will start by taking a trip through Plymouth to the Torpoint Ferry, and then on to Looe, where refreshments will be at Sarah’s Patisserie, 2 River View, West Looe, Looe, PL13 1AJ, (///transcribes.indeed.nurse), or where anyone prefers.
Following refreshments, the route will head via Callington and Gunnislake for a lunch stop at The Whitchurch Inn, Church Hill, Whitchurch, Tavistock PL19 9ED, (///exact.hound.purified). Jonty will check with them on Saturday to determine if they are open. If not, lunch will be in Tavistock itself.
After lunch, the route will head through Mary Tavy, Brentor and South Brent, for a coffee stop at The Abbey Inn, 30 Buckfast Rd, Buckfast, Buckfastleigh, TQ11 0EA (///profited.leafing.water).
The final leg of the day will return to Plymouth via back roads.
The total mileage for the day will be about 133miles, with a riding time of about 4 hours. It is expected the ride will finish between 4:30 and 5:00pm.
Please note, as we move into the winter rides season a decision will be made by 8.00am on the day of the ride as to whether the ride will proceed. The decision to postpone/cancel a ride will be published on Slack within the Group Rides section (For clarity, no announcement means the ride is going ahead as published).
We will make every effort to broadcast the news as widely as possible but Slack should be your ‘go to’ reference point and it is your responsibility to check the status of every ride before attending.
You can join Slack, our members only channel, here: https://join.slack.com/t/plymouthadvan-hvo1178/shared_invite/zt-lblor74l-8FqDREVw9wPE~gMgky~8Gg
The ride will be conducted in accordance with the IAM’s Group Organised Rides manual. The ride is open to all members. Associates are particularly encouraged to attend as these rides provide a great opportunity to meet fellow members and practice your skills amongst like-minded individuals. This is a social event and not an observed ride.
You are reminded that the ride leader is responsible for navigation and route guidance only. It remains your personal responsibility to exercise your own judgement about every course of action that you take, and every rider is responsible for their own actions and the consequences that those actions may have.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
The PAM Team.
