Half Day Ride – Sunday 21st December 2025 – Update

Please be advised of a change to the initial meeting point for this Sunday’s ride. To avoid a potential fine for not being customers, please DO NOT USE Aldi’s Car Park, as previously advertised.

This Sunday’s half day ride will be led by Dave Pickles. A volunteer to be Tail-End Charlie would be appreciated. Please read the ‘Winter rides cancellation policy’ at the end of this message.

The route shows the best of West Dartmoor and the café is highly rated! Bring some tinsel if you dare!

The route will head towards Lee Moor via the B3477, and on to Sheepstor via Cadover Bridge. At the bottom of Pork Hill, there will be a right turn to take lanes to connect with A386. It will then head north to Mary Tavy and North Brentor village, before taking lanes northwest to Chillaton, and Lifton. Before joining the A388 into Launceston.

Refreshments will be at the Cowslip Workshops Café, New House Farm, Launceston, PL15 8JX, which is near to the golf club (///slider.glimmers.restored) for about 11am.

The return route will be via Milton Abbot, Gulworthy Cross, Denham Bridge, to finish at St Paul’s Church, Yelverton, PL20 6AE (///powering.lizards.flaked).

Please note, as we move into the winter rides season a decision will be made by 8.00am on the day of the ride as to whether the ride will proceed. The decision to postpone/cancel a ride will be published on Slack within the Group Rides section (For clarity, no announcement means the ride is going ahead as published).

We will make every effort to broadcast the news as widely as possible but Slack should be your ‘go to’ reference point and it is your responsibility to check the status of every ride before attending.

You can join Slack, our members only channel, here: https://join.slack.com/t/plymouthadvan-hvo1178/shared_invite/zt-lblor74l-8FqDREVw9wPE~gMgky~8Gg

Please remember, the ride will be conducted in accordance with the IAM’s Group Organised Rides manual. The ride is open to all members. Associates are particularly encouraged to attend as these rides provide a great opportunity to meet fellow members and practice your skills amongst like-minded individuals. This is a social event and not an observed ride.

You are reminded that the ride leader is responsible for navigation and route guidance only. It remains your personal responsibility to exercise your own judgement about every course of action that you take, and every rider is responsible for their own actions and the consequences that those actions may have.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
